I love working on recipe journals...finding old recipes and having new ones to use along with all of the ephemera to use is fun! Here is a recipe journal I am working on for myself.
I have used mostly recipes from the family and then found ephemera in the journal on the pages.
Old wallpaper, images from the 1950's, old tags, some pages have drawings that I painted. The journal is bound with a spiral binding.
